MUMBAI: Celebrity couple Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra have slapped a defamation notice on Ravi Mohanlal Bhalotia, a vendor who had alleged the duo of cheating of Rs 24 lakh.

The Rs 100 crore defamation notice has been sent after Bhalotia publicly called the celebrity couple a cheat.

Incidentally, the duo ran a home shopping channel Best Deal TV till earlier this year.

Kundra, who served as CEO of the company, stepped down in January. In December last year, the company had temporarily suspended operations after seeing a drastic drop in the business post demonetisation. However, vendors across the country alleged that the company has defaulted on payments since the beginning of last year.

"Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty Kundra have slapped a defamation notice for Rs 100 crore on Ravi Mohanlal Bhalotia. A quashing petition has been filed in the Bombay High Court as they have tight contracts signed and have been responsibly following the laws of the land," a spokesperson for Kundra said.
