Shia leader Kalbe Sadiq supports Anna

The Maulana's support for Hazare's movement is significant as it may be an indicator that influential community leaders are not buying Congress' charge that Anna is the 'B-team' of RSS.

LUCKNOW In a development that may spell trouble for Congress in Uttar Pradesh, noted Shia cleric Maulana Kalbe Sadiq has backed Anna Hazare's call for a strong anti-graft law. The support comes at a time when Hazare has announced his plan to campaign against Congress in the state.

The Maulana's support for Hazare's movement is significant as it may be an indicator that influential community leaders are not buying Congress' charge that Anna is the 'B-team' of RSS. His public support for the anti-graft movement comes a day after Hazare said that he would broad-base his core team by inducting new members. The Shia leader, who met Team Anna member Arvind Kejriwal, also organised a meeting of clerics to discuss participation of community leaders in the anti-graft movement.

The invitees to this meet included Maulana Irfan Firangimahali, Mufti Maulana Kazmi, chairperson of all India Muslim Women Personal Law Board Shaista Ambar and representatives of Momin conference.
