Sheila to meet Moily to stop black marketing of LPG cylinders

Sheila Dikshit said she will meet Moily in a day or two to brief him about some dealers resorting to black marketing of LPG cylinders.

NEW DELHI: With residents in number of areas facing shortage of LPG cylinders due to black marketing, Delhi government has decided to seek Oil Minister Veerappa Moily's intervention in taking action against the errant dealers.

Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said she will meet Moily in a day or two to brief him about some dealers resorting to black marketing of LPG cylinders.

"I will meet the Oil Minister soon to apprise him about the issue," Dikshit said.

Officials said people in a number of areas have been finding it difficult to get subsidised LPG cylinders. They said Delhi government does not have adequate powers to act against LPG dealers.

The market rate of an LPG cylinder is Rs 895.50 while a subsidised cylinder costs Rs 410.

The Centre had in September decided that each household will get six cylinders of 14.2-kg per annum at the subsidised rate and any requirement beyond that would have to be procured at market rate.
