Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today exhorted people of city to avoid bursting of crackers and celebrate a clean and pollution-free Diwali.

NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today exhorted people of city to avoid bursting of crackers and celebrate a clean and pollution-free Diwali.

"I appeal people to celebrate a clean and pollution-free Diwali with earthen lamps, 'rangoli' and sweets. We must ensure that the pollution level does not go up," she said.

"We should not burst crackers as it results in noise and air pollution," she said.

In a message, Dikshit greeted the people on the occasion of Diwali and hoped that the festival of lights would bring prosperity, happiness and joy in their lives.
