NEW DELHI: Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today asked Transport Department to frame a policy for plying of eco-friendly cycle rickshaws in the city.

At a meeting to discuss the issue, Dikshit said the government must come out with regulatory framework for e-rickshaws.

The transport department has already given permission to individual e-rickshaw owners to ply in various areas of the city.

The e-rickshaws are presently not covered under the Motor Vehicle Act.

Later, a separate meeting was chaired by Transport Minister Ramakant Goswami in which the issue was discussed at length.

The meeting was attended by Transport Commissioner Rajendra Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Satyendra Garg and senior officers from NDMC and three other municipal corporations.
