Sheena Bora case: No breakthrough yet, motive of murder remains questionable
MUMBAI: Three years after the murder of Sheena Bora the Mumbai Police might have arrested three people allegedly involved in the affair, but it has yet to tie up several loose ends in the case.

For one the motive for the murder of the 22-year-old is still a question mark. Indrani Mukerjea, who was supposed to be Sheena's sister but actually turned out to be her mother, has not revealed why she allegedly killed her daughter. Indrani's former husband Sanjeev Khanna, who has been arrested and is being brought to Mumbai in transit remand, has also not revealed the motive behind the alleged murder.

The only person talking in the case as of now is Indrani's former driver Shyam Rai who has revealed the role of Indrani and Khanna in the murder, according to sources in the police department.

The police now plan to question the three accused persons together. The cops hope there would be a breakthrough in the investigations once this happens. The joint interrogation of the three will take place on Friday evening.

As of now, cops are in the dark as regards to a motive for Indrani to kill her daughter. Also, they are not sure why Khanna would agree to participate in killing Sheena.

The police were working on two possible theories till late Wednesday, sources said. One is that Sheena was killed because Indrani didn't want Sheena to disclose to Rahul Mukerjea — son of Indrani's husband Peter Mukerjea from his first wife, who had a relationship with Sheena — that Indrani was actually her mother. The other theory is that Sheena refused to part with money in her account after shares in INX Media Pvt Ltd were sold off. Shares in INX were in Sheena's name because Peter Mukerjea, who set up INX along with his wife Indrani, had a non-compete cause with the Star Group where he worked earlier.

Meanwhile, a team of Mumbai police officials took down the statement of Mikhail Bora, Sheena's brother who claimed he had ‘evidence' to show why his sister was killed by his mother, in Guwahati. Mikhail had been telling the media that he had some photographs and also an audio conversation that would shed light on the issue.

The Khar police has also recorded the statement of Rahul Mukerjea, who has told the cops that Indrani did have an issue with Sheena having been in a relationship with him.

What is perplexing the Mumbai cops also is that both Peter and Mikhail did not bother to check whether Sheena was indeed in the US after she disappeared more than three years ago.
