Sheela, first daughter from Mulayam Singh Yadav clan to join politics

After sons and daughters-in-law, SP boss Mulayam Singh Yadav's clan has finally launched its first daughter into electoral politics. Sheela, sister of Badaun MP Dharmendra and Mulayam's niece, has been elected to Mainpuri zila panchayat. “Sheela has been declared elected unopposed as member of Mainpuri district development council (DDC) in the ongoing panchayat elections,“ a party source told TOI on Saturday .

Sheela is the nineteenth member of the Yadav clan to enter active politics. “Mulayam now presides over probably the largest political family in the country ,“ said a party leader from Etawah.

“Renu Devi, Sharmishta and Hamida Begum, who had filed nominations for the post of DDC members from Mainpuri's ward 18 from where Sheela was in fray , decided to withdraw their candidature in her favour,“ said Etawah district president Ashok Yadav.

“We are winning because we talk about development and also Netaji's (Mulayam) adherence to `samajwad' (socialism), which has made inroads in every house-hold of Mainpuri.,“ Dharmendra said.
