Sharif's brother may hold talks with Pak generals
Sharif's brother Shahbaz may hold talks with Pakistani Army Generals soon to negotiate a deal.
President Pervez Musharraf's emissaries Brigadier Niaz Ahmed, ISI chief General Ashfaq Kiani and Lt General Hamid Javed are currently in London "to work out a deal with the exiled former Prime Minister" to enable the military dictator to survive in power, 'The News' has claimed.
"If these emissaries of Musharraf meet leaders of the Nawaz camp in London, they would be informed about terms and conditions of a grand political reconciliation," Sharif's spokesman Nadir Chaudhry was quoted as saying. However, there was no official confirmation on this.
Musharraf on Sunday said that the Sharif brothers would not be allowed to enter the Islamic nation despite a Supreme Court ruling that both were free to return home. As Sharif himself would not meet these Generals in London, the spokesperson said, "Shahbaz has been assigned to deal with them and discuss future arrangements as part of a grand political reconciliation."
The Sharif camp, the daily claimed, for the first time has given a clear indication that if the emissaries meet them, they would be informed about Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz's official stance to start negotiations.
"If they (emissaries) meet our leaders, we will first inform them about our main stance, which is that Pervez Musharraf and democracy could not work together," he said, adding Sharif had told the media on August 23 that he's ready to sit with the President if "he quits power".
