Sharif rejects Hariri's plea to delay return
Nawaz Sharif and his brother have rejected a plea by Saad Hariri, the son of a former Lebanese Prime Minister, to delay their return to Pakistan and pledged to come back on Monday, a close aide of the deposed Premier said.
Pervez Rashid told the 'Dawn' that Hariri, presumably an emissary of Saudi Arabia, had met the Sharif brothers in London recently and requested them to postpone their return date, a suggestion rejected by the exiled former Premier and his brother Shahbaz.
"As an alternative, Hariri had proposed that Shahbaz could return home as planned on September 10 but Nawaz Sharif should follow him after the presidential elections," Rashid was quoted by the daily as saying.
"But, Sharif has vowed to return to his home country come what may," he claimed.
When asked why the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was keeping the name of the airline which Sharif and his entourage would take and its timing a secret, Rashid said that under normal circumstances the party would have made a public announcement well in advance.
