NEW DELHI: The supporters of JDU rebel leader Sharad Yadav on Thursday announced their new party Loktantrik Janata Dal, which will be formally launched here on May 18.

Yadav, being locked in a legal battle over his disqualification from Rajya Sabha as well a symbol battle with Nitysh Kumar-led JDU, will technically play the role of “guide” and will be the chief guest at the launching function even though it is his supporters who are leading the party.

The newly appointed general secretary of the party Sushila Morale addressed a press conference in which Yadav was also present.

"A national conference of the newlyformed outfit will be organised on May 18 and Yadav will be present for it as a margadarshak (mentor)," Morale told reporters at the press conference in Yadav’s official residence.
