NEW DELHI: The Rajya Sabha secretariat has given JDU rebels Sharad Yadav and Ali Anwar a week’s time to reply to the notice on the Nitish Kumar camp’s petition seeking their disqualification from the House.

The Kumar camp on Tuesday hailed the Tamil Nadu assembly Speaker’s decision to disqualify 18 AIADMK MLAs and demanded the same yardstick be applied on its petition against Yadav and Ali.

Ali said RS Chairman should refer the rival faction’s petition to the House ethics panel even as Kumar’s spokesperson KC Tyagi opposed Congress leader Anand Sharma and CPM chief Sitaram Yechury too seeking the same committee perusal for a final decision.

“When the Chairman of the House is a competent authority,an outsider comment or advice isn’t appreciable in constitutional proceedings.”
