Sharad overestimated himself: JDU Bihar Chief Bashishta Narayan Singh

KOLKATA: Sharad Yadav is likely to face serious punitive action for alleged anti-party activities, Bashishta Narayan Singh, JDU MP told ET in an exclusive interaction. As relations between Sharad Yadav and the Nitish Kumar camps sour, the party is now contemplating serious action against the rebel veteran. In a precursor of things to come, Singh has suspended 21 Yadav loyalists.

Yadav too has been removed as the leader of the party in the Rajya Sabha. Continuing his attack, JDU state president points out that Yadav has “no contribution to Bihar’s politics” and has “over-estimated” himself. In fact, the Opposition parties humoring him has only made matters worse for Yadav.

The veteran leader’s words and action are now being perceived as a serious “anti-party' activity and it is only a matter of time before strict action is taken against him. The JDU in its August 19 meet is likely to do the needful.

About reports on the split in JDU, Singh said that Sharad Yadav had organized a “samvad yatra” on his own with the support of RJD, but did not get any response in Bihar. “To claim stake in the party, one needs numbers.

Sharad ji neither has an MLC, nor a good number of MLAs with him. To add to his misery, he could not even convince district and bock presidents . So, there is no question of split. But he is free to join wherever he wants,” Singh told ET.
