NEW DELHI: Even as AICC plenary session has authorised party president Rahul Gandhi to nominate the new CWC, shake-up in many state Congress units are expected soon.

The resignations of Gujarat and Goa PCC chiefs indicate the beginning of a series of changes, party insiders said. Reshuffle of PCCs of Odisha, Bihar, Mumbai, Kerala, Haryana and UP are likely to happen soon.

With BJP determinedly working to replace Congress in Odisha as the main Opposition to BJD, the leadership is expected to address the demand for changing PCC chief PK Harichandan, who faces a rebellion from sections of state Congress leaders who have been repeatedly urging the high command to remove him. With talks on to revive the Congress-NCP alliance, Gandhi will have to take a call on changing Mumbai Regional Congress chief Sanjay Nirupam as many city Congress leaders are virtually leading a non-cooperation movement against him. Even AICC general secretary in-charge of the city and Maharashtra, Mohan Prakash, may be ejected.

With the Congress managing to defuse the plot of former Bihar PCC chief Ashok Chowdhary to hijack MLAs during the recent Rajya Sabha elections, the stage seems to be set for appointing a full-time PCC chief in the state. A leader from Dalit or an upper caste community could be made the new PCC chief. In Haryana, a new PCC chief and CLP leader are expected soon with another Dalit-Jat combination being looked into.

The talks between AICC and Kerala leaders have picked up to name a full-time PCC chief.
