After their defeat in the Himachal Pradesh elections, the party has become cautious especially in states where there is a BJP government. The party, in the coming days, has decided to appoint election in-charges much in advance to set the campaign going in these states. Tripura is one of the states where the BJP formed the government in 2018 and now the party wants to repeat the performance in next year's elections. The BJP changed the chief minister in May this year when Biplab Deb was replaced with Manik Saha. Sources told ET that the party is once again considering aligning with local political parties in the state.
A detailed strategy will be laid down going further. As of now, the party has decided to increase the visits of senior leaders and Union ministers in Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland. As the party has been following in other states, the central leaders will spend time in these states to increase the Northeast connection of the Modi government.
Last Monday, the party organised a two-day meeting of national office-bearers and state leaders of all the election-going states in the upcoming year. Sunday's meeting was exclusive for the Northeast states. In the coming days, specific meetings are going to take place for Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh.
