SGPC rallies behind Devender Pal Singh Bhullar

BHULLAR: The supreme temporal seat of Sikhs, the Akal Takht, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee ( SGPC) and Damdami Taksal on Saturday rallied behind convicted Khalistan militant Devender Pal Singh Bhullar by holding ardas (prayers) for his long life.

Bhullar's mother Upkar Kaur, who was honoured at the occasion, held discussions with the jathedar of Akal Takht, Giani Gurbachan Singh, and president of SGPC Avtar Singh Makkar. Prominent among others who were present included chief of Damdami Taksal, Harnam Singh Khalsa.

Bhullar's mother hoped that her son would soon be a free man. Bhullar was sentenced to death by a trial court in 2001.
