At least 18 references from Congress MP Rahul Gandhi's speech in the Lok Sabha linking the rise in fortunes of businessman Gautam Adani with BJP's term at the Centre have been expunged from the House record.

In his speech on the motion of thanks to the President's address, Gandhi had accused the BJP government of tailoring its foreign policy to benefit Adani's business interest. Questions posed by Gandhi have also been struck off.

Gandhi, who reached Parliament 40 minutes after the PM had started speaking, asked, "I want to know why my remarks have been expunged from the record?"

Emerging from the Lok Sabha after the prime minister's reply, the Congress leader said, "It is a very big scam... I am not satisfied, but it reveals the truth."

Congress strongly criticised the expunging of certain remarks made by Gandhi in Parliament, and alleged that "democracy was cremated" in Lok Sabha.
