Several feared dead in mishap

SHEIKHPURA: Several people, mostly women and children, were feared drowned when a boat capsized in Harohar river in Bihar's Sheikhpura district on Thursday, police said.

The mishap occurred near Bavghat under Ghatkusumbha block when the victims, all residents of Panapur village, were going to immerse the idols of Lord Shiva and goddess Parvati after Karma Puja.

No bodies have, however, been recovered, Block Development Officer (bdo) Sudhanshu Shekhar said.

Some 40 people were travelling in the boat when it overturned, sources said.
