The seven men, all natives of Madurai District, flew to Sharjah from an undisclosed airport in Iraq before arriving here early morning.

Seven Tamil Nadu workers stranded in Iraq arrive home
CHENNAI: Seven Tamil Nadu workers, stranded in war-torn Iraq for several months, arrived here today with the help of Central and State governments, airport authorities said here today.

The seven men, all natives of Madurai District, flew to Sharjah from an undisclosed airport in Iraq before arriving here early morning.

They were received by State government authorities and taken to their native place by a bus.

All of them were construction workers and were taken to Iraq by an agent after promising them hefty salaries which, however, turned out to be false.

Meanwhile, due to heavy rains here, a flight from Abu Dhabi with 146 passengers was diverted to Bangalore, airport authorities added.
