With the rejection of seven nominations, 63 candidates are left in the fray in the six assembly constituencies of Jammu region.

JAMMU: With the rejection of seven nominations, 63 candidates are left in the fray in the six assembly constituencies of Jammu region which are slated to go to polls in the first phase on November 25.

Two nomination papers were rejected in Ramban, two in Doda, one each in Bhaderwah, Kishtwar and Banihal assembly constituencies whereas no rejection was reported in Inderwal assembly constituency, an official of the election commission said.

"Total of seven nominations were rejected till today for various reasons, leaving 63 candidates in fray for the first phase of assembly elections in the six assembly constituencies in Jammu division" the official said.

The notification for the first phase of assembly elections was issued on October 29, with November 7 being fixed as the last date for the scrutiny of the nomination papers whereas November 10 has been fixed as the last date for the withdrawal of nomination papers.

The polling for the first phase would take place on Nov 25.
