Seven months after his posting, no office for South Bengaluru's DCP T Sreedhar

BENGALURU: A senior police officer posted as DCP (Traffic) for South Bengaluru has not been able to attend to his traffic responsibilities for want of an office even after seven months of his posting.

T Sreedhar is the victim of government's indifference, according to police sources. He is currently functioning out of the office of DCP (Intelligence) on Infantry Road which is, surprisingly , his additional charge.

The government doubled the posts of DCP (Traffic) by creating two new posts in August last year when it noticed traffic becoming a big headache for the police to handle.While young IPS officer Renuka Sukumaran could successfully take over as DCP (North Traffic), Sreedhar was not so lucky -he is non-IPS and had served as SP , Lokayukta, in Chitradurga before. Not having an office to attend is just one of Sreedhar's problems. According to sources, he has a lot of responsibilities in the intelligence wing. As a result, he is not able to concentrate on his primary posting as DCP traffic f for South Bengaluru.

The DCP Traffic (South) covers a vast jurisdiction in the south of the city , including Central Bengaluru, Jayanagar, Basavanagudi, Banashankari and Kumaraswamy Layout. Sreedhar's peculiar situation has resulted in DCP Traffic (West) S Girish looking after the traffic responsi bilities. Girish confirmed that he has stepped in for Sridhar.

Sources in the government, however, say Sreedhar has been asked not to report at his traf fic office by an advisor in the gov ernment without giving a reason.
