Service Chiefs exempted from frisking

Civil Aviation Ministry has decided to exempt the Army, Navy and IAF chiefs from being subjected to security checks at airports.

NEW DELHI: The Civil Aviation Ministry has decided to exempt the Army, Navy and IAF chiefs from being subjected to security checks at airports, Timesnow reported.

The exemption list would now include three more names, that of the Service chiefs. This means that though General Deepak Kapoor, Admiral Sureesh Mehta and Air Chief Marshal FH Major, entrusted with the onerous responsibility of defending the nation, would now be granted this privilege.

Apart from the President, Vice-President, Prime Minister, former Presidents, Lok Sabha speaker, Cabinet ministers, SC judges and the like, the list also includes chief ministers, deputy CMs, ambassadors of foreign countries, high commissioners and their spouses, cabinet secretary, visiting foreign dignitaries, SPG (Special Protection Group) protectees and the Dalai Lama.

The list also includes Robert Vadra, the only one to be mentioned by name in the list, if he is accompanied by an SPG protectee, that is his wife Priyanka, Sonia Gandhi or Rahul.
