Special CP SN Shrivastava gets additional charge of Delhi Police Commissioner
Senior IPS officer SN Shrivastava will be the next Delhi police commissioner, MHA officials have said.

The move comes days after Shrivastava was made Special Commissioner (Law and Order) by the Home Ministry after bringing him from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) to end the violence in Delhi over the controversial citizenship law.

Shrivastava will replace Amulya Patnaik, whose tenure was extended by a month due to Delhi Assembly election and is due to retire tomorrow.

The Ministry of Home Affairs, headed by Amit Shah, and the Delhi Police (which comes under the jurisdiction of the Centre) have recently come under intense criticism for the way the violence in Delhi has been handled so far.

Who is SN Srivastava?
