MUMBAI: All India Congress Committee has convened a meeting of senior leaders and former chief ministers of Maharashtra on June 28 to discuss the road ahead for the party, which faces crucial assembly elections later this year.

According to party sources, former chief ministers Shivajirao Patil Nilangekar, Ashok Chavan, Sushilkumar Shinde, A R Antulay, Narayan Rane, state Congress president Manikrao Thakare, chief minister Prithviraj Chavan, Mumbai Congress chief Janardan Chandurkar and prominent leaders who lost in a close fight in the the recently-concluded Lok Sabha elections, will be present at the meeting.

The deliberations are part of the state-wise review meetings being conducted by a committee of senior leaders A K Antony, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Mukul Wasnik and Ajay Maken, sources added.
