Senior Bihar govt officer found dead at home
Parmanand Paswan, Joint Secretary in the Bihar govt's Welfare department, was found dead in his flat in Gardanibagh locality here saturday.
Paswan, lived alone in his flat at Shailja apartment, Superintendent of Police (City) Anwar Hussain told PTI.
Hussain, quoting the neighbours, said the iron grille at the doorway was locked and the door bolted from inside since June 11.
The matter came to light when one of the sons of the officer, who stayed with his mother at Katihar, phoned Paswan several times but there was no response. His son then called up a friend, who visited the flat this morning and despite repeated ringing of the doorbell nobody answered.
The Gardanibagh police station was informed and when the lock at the grille and the door were broken, Paswan was found dead sitting in a yogic posture.
Probably he died of heart attack or stroke while performing yoga and prima facie no foul play is suspected, the SP said adding the officer's family had arrived and postmortem was taken up.
