Sena seeks Chidambaram's ouster over 'saffron terror' remark
Shiv Sena Executive President Uddhav Thackarey demanded the resignation of Home Minister P Chidambaram, in the wake of his statement on rise in "saffron terrorism."
"Chidambaram should resign for making such remarks," A person who does not understand the real colour of terrorism must go," Sena Executive President Uddhav Thackeray told reporters.
"Can't you (Chidambaram) see the bloodshed going on in Kashmir," Uddhav asked, adding "Who are Ajmal Kasab and Afzal Guru."
"Congress should make its stance clear on the issue of this so-called 'saffron terrorism'," Uddhav said, after a function at Worli.
Chidambaram had said a new phenomenon of "saffron terrorism", involved in many bomb blasts, has been uncovered.
His comments came against the backdrop of investigators finding links between Hindu extremist outfits and at least five bomb blasts in recent years -- at Hyderabad's Mecca Masjid, Ajmer, Goa, Malegaon in Maharashtra and Modasa in Gujarat.
In a sarcastic vein, an editorial in party mouthpiece said, "Hindus should apologise to 'Mahatma Kasab' and 'Dharmatma Afzal Guru', if they have to live here."
