MUMBAI: Price hike and inflation are taking on a political hue. The Shiv Sena on Tuesday staged protests all over the state against the recent price hike. In Pune, the Sena workers on Tuesday morning staged a rail roko by disrupting railway traffic between Mumbai and Pune. Thousands of office goers who travel to Mumbai had a harrowing time as the Sena workers sat on tracks between Pune and Lonavala. This resulted in all trains being delayed by at least two hours.
Similar protests were held in Nashik and other places.

Protesting against shortage of fertilisers, and rising prices of essential commodities and petroleum products, Senas Nashik unit blocked the Mumbai-Agra national highway, police said. The Senas deputy leader Ravindra Mirlekar, city mayor Vinayak Pande and local leaders gathered at Adgaon point and sat on the road this morning, shouting slogans against the central and state governments. They also warned strong agitation if the government failed to provide adequate fertilisers to the farmers, police said. Around 100 Sena activists have been rounded up by the police. Here too, the traffic remained disrupted for a couple of hours. Similar agitation was also staged in other places in the district.
