Sena opposes Adarsh flat owner in House panel

Shiv Sena on Saturday objected to a legislator of ruling NCP being part of the panel of presiding officers of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.

NAGPUR: Shiv Sena on Saturday objected to a legislator of ruling NCP being part of the panel of presiding officers of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.

Raising the issue in the House, Shiv Sena group leader Subhash Desai said objections are being raised over inclusion of NCP MLA Jitendra Awhad being in the panel of House presiding officers. "Awhad's inclusion in the panel is objectionable. Decorum of the House should be maintained," Desai said.

Awhad, who was in the House, said he had never denied that he had purchased a flat in the controversial Adarsh Housing Society building in south Mumbai.

"Even if there is one per cent truth in allegations of wrongdoing, I will retire from public life," Awhad said. "But if the allegations are proved false, Desai should also inform the House what would he do," he added.
