Sena MLAs create ruckus in house over power crisis
"Where is Rane? Is He In Jail?" Asks Oppn Leader Ramdas Kadam.
On Tuesday, the Shiv Sena started from where it had left on Monday — demanding action against Mr Rane for his alleged role in inciting Congress workers against Shiv Sainiks in Ramtek constituency. Ramdas Kadam, leader of the opposition, demanded that Mr Rane be dismissed from the Cabinet. In fact, Mr Kadam sought to know the whereabouts of Mr Rane from the treasury benches since the revenue minister was not in the House.
“Where is Rane? Is he in jail?” Mr Kadam asked. No one from the treasury benches, including chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and deputy chief minister RR Patil, responded to Mr Kadam. Incidentally, Tuesday happened to be Mr Rane’s 55th birthday and his supporters had put up large cut outs around Mantralaya. But the Opposition, perhaps sensed that its conduct in the House was a bit too personal and suddenly turned to the power crisis.
The Opposition demanded an immediate solution to the shortfall of around 5,800 MW in the state and a respite from load-shedding for the rural population. Presiding officer Janardan Chandurkar adjourned the proceedings for the day following a noisy slogan-shouting by the Opposition.
