Mumbai BMW accident: Whoever is guilty, action will be taken against them, says CM Eknath Shinde
The Mumbai Police on Sunday arrested Eknath Shinde faction's Shiv Sena leader Rajesh Shah and their family friend, Rajrishi Bisawat after a luxury car owned by Shah rammed into a two-wheeler, killing a woman while her husband was injured. Shah's son Mihir was in the car when the incident took place.

According to the police, around 5.25 am on Sunday, the speeding BMW rammed into the scooter on which the woman was riding pillion. The woman, identified as Kaveri Nakhwa, was dragged for around 100 meters on the bonnet of the car, leading to her death. Her husband, Pradeep, has been injured.

This incident comes less than two months after the Porsche case in Pune, where two IT professionals were killed by a Porsche allegedly driven by an inebriated minor that created a public outcry.

Speaking about the incident, Maharashtra chief minister Eknath Shinde assured that the law is equal for everyone and that the police will not shield anyone in this case. "The law is equal for all and the government sees every case in the same way. There will be no separate rule for this accident. Everything will be done as per the law," he said.

According to the police, the abandoned car with its missing number plate has been found. A forensic team has been roped in to collect the samples. Sources say Shah's son, who is on a run, is an adult. They are now investigating if he was on the wheels and if it's a case of drunk driving. Multiple teams have been sent to Palghar, Raigad and other places to look for him.

According to unconfirmed reports, Mihir Shah had been drinking at a bar in Juhu and later asked the driver to take him for a long drive. After taking control of the wheels himself, the speeding BMW lost control and rammed into the scooter.

In a post on X, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and local MLA Aaditya Thackeray said he would not go into the "political leanings" of Shah but hoped "there will be no political refuge by the regime".
