Sena demands Kasab's hanging on 26/11 attack anniversary

Shiv Sena on Thursday demanded that the lone terrorist caught alive for the Mumbai terror attack, Ajmal Amir Kasab, be hanged.

MUMBAI: Shiv Sena on Thursday demanded that the lone terrorist caught alive for the Mumbai terror attack, Ajmal Amir Kasab, be hanged.

As a symbolic protest, Sena workers hanged Kasab's effigy outside party headquarters Sena Bhavan in central Mumbai as the city paid homage to the victims of the terror attack on its first anniversary today.

Thousands gathered at the venue, creating traffic jam in the busy Dadar area for an hour, as the effigy was hanged in the presence of Sena executive chief Uddhav Thackeray.

"Common people have suffered a lot due to the attacks and Kasab should be hanged like this," Uddhav said.

Criticising the Government for not disposing the bodies of remaining nine terrorists, kept in a local morgue, Uddhav said the bodies should be declared "national wealth."

Uddhav accused the Government of not giving adequate compensation to the victims of the terror attack last year. "It is Sena's responsibility to give justice to the families of the martyrs and we will support them," he said.
