MUMBAI: For the first time after he quit Shiv Sena to form Maharashtra Nav Nirman Sena, Raj Thackeray on Friday launched a frontal attack on Sena-BJP coalition which controls the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, blaming it for Mumbai’s woes in this monsoon.

In a letter sent to the media, Raj announced that his outfit will take out a ‘huge rally’ to BMC headquarters on July 14 to protest the hardship citizens are suffering since the onset of monsoon.

Alleging that Sena-BJP alliance, during its last 10 years’ rule at BMC, did not fulfil a single poll promise and instead ‘robbed’ the city, Raj said the alliance had ‘ground the city to dust’.

Apart from blaming his former party for BMC’s failure to tackle the heavy rains this year, Raj had categorically said that Sena-BJP leaders had ‘grabbed many civic hospitals’ and changed reservations for public utilities arbitrarily.

In this context, Raj has mentioned the Sena-BJP’s alleged conspiracy to hand over the historic Crawford Market building in the heart of the city to private developer as “height of corruption”. Raj also demanded a CBI probe into road works undertaken by MMRDA.
