Sena-BJP demand Kalmadi's resignation as MP

The BJP and Shiv Sena have demanded resignation of Suresh Kalmadi as MP saying, he had no moral right to continue as the people's representative from Pune.

PUNE: The BJP and Shiv Sena have demanded resignation of Suresh Kalmadi as MP saying, he had no moral right to continue as the people's representative from Pune after his removal from the secretaryship of Congress Parliamentary Party in the wake of allegations of corruption involving the Delhi CWG.

The city BJP chief and MLA Girish Bapat, said, "Kalmadi has no moral right to continue as people's representative from Pune as he had embarrassed not just the city but the entire country."

Shiv Sena spokesman Neelam Gorhe said, "Kalmadi's removal from Congress post shows that his own party holds his guilty prima facie and a detailed probe should be conducted to go into the irregularities committed by him by setting up fast track court to punish all those involved in the CWG scam".

A mood of despondency apparently prevailed among supporters of the Congress MP within the city unit as its president Abhay Chhajed remained inaccessible for his reaction to Kalmadi's unceremonious ouster from the CLP post.
