Shiv Sena activists blackened boards at the city's domestic air terminal, airport sources said on Monday.

MUMBAI: Shiv Sena activists blackened boards at the city's domestic air terminal, airport sources said on Monday.

The activists blackened boards of "Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) welcomes you" yesterday stating that the private firm, which runs operations at the airport, should not welcome air travellers to the city.

However, the boards had been cleaned now, MIAL spokesman said, adding "there is presently no plan to change any of the boards".

Earlier, Sena president Uddhav Thackeray visited the airport where he pressed for jobs to Maharashtrians at the air terminal, which is being modernised.

The city's airport, which has been privatised is presently being operated and modernised by the Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL), a consortium led by GVK Limited.
