Semitic religions are the root cause of global warming: RSS leader Suresh Soni

AHMEDABAD: RSS seems to think Semitic religions are the root cause of Global Warming. Citing historian Arnold Toyenbee's dialogue with Buddhist leader and poet Daisaku Ikeda, RSS leader Suresh Soni said the idea that "God created the world in five days and man in one and said to him that the world has been created for his benefit, has created the problem."

Soni was addressing an RSS 'Karyakartha Shibir' in Ahmedabad which has the entire Sangh leadership attending, including Sarsangchalak Mohan Bhagwat.

In what could be perceived as a dig on the reforms process, Soni interpreted "development" as moving forward and said while walking ahead, one's one foot remains on ground and another in air. "The foot on the ground is his link to tradition and the one in the air is to modernity," Soni said.

"Now one may wish to keep both feet in the air, but we all know what to expect in that case," he said. He also said jihad was the root cause for global terrorism. "An intolerant religion cannot give peace even to its own people," said Soni, who was the RSS' chief liason man with BJP before being replaced by Krishna Gopal.
