Seemandhra: Partial response to bandh call in Vizag,Vijayawada
VISHAKHAPATNAM: The two-day bandh call given by the pro-united Andhra Pradesh groups in Seemandhra evoked a partial response on the second day in Visakhapatnam city as well as Vijayawada city and Krishna district. Banks, hotels are open in Visakhapatnam city but private schools have declared a two-day holiday.

Andhra Pradesh Road Transport Corporation's buses plied in the city, but some services were suspended in Anakapalli, Narsipatnam and other rural areas. The activists of the YSRCP took out a motorcycle rally in the city this morning. Samaikya Andhra Vidyut Employees JAC said further action plan for protest against bifurcation would be chalked out at a meeting in Hyderabad on December 9 and 10.

Police took into custody fifteen activists for blocking the traffic in Visakhapatnam city. Bandh call received partial response in Vijayawada city too. TDP legislator Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, former MP Gadde Ramamohan and city unit president B Venkanna alongwith other protesters staged demonstration at the Bus Station, stalling district bus services for about two hours.

Services resumed after they left. Banks remained closed on the second day, while educational institutions have declared a holiday. TDP leaders blocked the roads at various places elsewhere in the Krishna district.

Union cabinet's nod to the draft bill for reorganisation of Andhra Pradesh and creation of Telangana state two days ago has sparked off the latest round of protests in the Seemandhra areas.
