Seemandhra lawyers to step up agitation against bifurcation

VIJAYAWADA: Seemandhra Advocates Judicial Employees & Advocates Clerks Joint Action Committee today decided to step up its agitation against the decision on the bifurcation of the state.

The committee held its convention in Guntur today under the Chairmanship of its convenor and president of Vijayawada Bar Association, M Jayakar Babu.

As per the programme, on September 2, all the bar associations from Seemandhra region will approach the panchayat sarpanchs and convince them to pass a resolution by during their village meets against the state bifurcation, Babu said.

On September 3, all bar associations will send detailed resolutions to the President of India, Prime Minister and Union Home Minister seeking their support over united Andhra.

"The next day, Union Ministers, MPs, MLCs and MLAs will be urged to resign over the issue. In the subsequent days, fasts and human chains would be held at their places," he said.

On September 14, a meeting will be held at Anatapur to decide the future course of action against bifurcation.

Meanwhile, the Seemandhra Electricity Employees Joint Action Committee has also decided to go on indefinite strike from 12th September on the lines of APNGOS Association. A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting held here today.
