Over 12,000 employees of Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation ( APSRTC) reported back to work in the Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema today, to the relief of lakhs of commuters.
APSRTC buses run 80.77 lakh km and ferry 154.63 lakh people every day.
The strike, against the division of Andhra Pradesh, and also over some service-related issues, started two months ago. However, the employees relented late last night following assurances from state Transport Minister Botsa Satyanarayana and the top officials of the corporation.
The services between Hyderabad and the Seemandhra region too resumed.
The Seemandhra electricity employees and teachers called off their strikes this week, but employees of other government departments are still on strike.
