Security on the Delhi-Haridwar sector has been beefed up following intelligence reports of possible militant attack on 'Kanwariyas', officials said on Thursday.

MUZAFFARNAGAR: Security on the Delhi-Haridwar sector has been beefed up following intelligence reports of possible militant attack on 'Kanwariyas', officials said on Thursday.

Security arrangements at Delhi-Haridwar national highway along with other connecting rail and road links have been tightened after Additional Director General, Intelligence and Security Uttarakhand, informed the UP police of HuJi activities, District Senior Superintendent of Police S K Singh said.

Singh said the terrorists who were arrested in Lucknow recently had admitted to a plan of attacking the pilgrims on board the Delhi-Haridwar train.

The police official said all trains, railway stations and bus-stands will be under vigilance during the 'Kanwar' yatra beginning on July 30.
