Security beefed up in Assam ahead of PM Manmohan Singh's visit

There are intelligence inputs which suggest that anti talk ULFA militants are looking to strike ahead of the visit of PM, Dr Manmohan Singh to Assam.

TINSUKIA: With the threat of subversive activities emanating from anti talk ULFA militants, the Northeast Frontier Railway has cancelled several trains and rescheduled the running of several trains. There is massive deployment of security forces in the state ahead of Dr Manmohan Singh’s visit.

There are intelligence inputs which suggest that anti talk ULFA militants under the elusive commander in chief Paresh Baruah is looking to strike ahead of the visit of Prime minister, Dr Manmohan Singh to Assam.

Dr Singh will visit Assam on April 20 to inaugurate the platinum jubilee celebration of Assam assembly.

Hardliner ULFA has called bandh on April 20 to protest Dr Singh’s visit to his home constituency. Dr Singh is Rajya Sabha MP from Assam. Police here is making elaborate plan to thwart the activities of militants.

According to NF railway due to security threat over Assam area some passenger carrying trains will remain cancelled/rescheduled/preponded. While 10 trains has been cancelled, four trains are rescheduled and timings of three trains are preponed.
