Security beefed up at Siddhivinayak temple

Security at the Siddhivinayak temple in Central Mumbai has been beefed up.

MUMBAI: Security at the Siddhivinayak temple in Central Mumbai has been beefed up.

"For last four days, additional 25 police personnel have been deployed at the temple in Prabhadevi as more devotees are visiting temple due to holidays," Chairman of the temple trust Subhash Mayekar said.

When asked about the reason behind stepped up security, he said there is no (no) special reason.

"In fact, when police require more security elsewhere, a section of the temple force gets deployed elsewhere. Later, the same force gets reinstalled at the temple," Mayekar added.

Currently, there are 120 policemen deployed and 35,000-40,000 people visit the temple daily.
