Security arrangements put in place in Jammu and Kashmir for Republic Day: Police

JAMMU: All security arrangements for Republic Day celebrations have been put in place in Jammu and Kashmir, a senior police officer said.

Security arrangements have been put in place for the Republic Day function at MA Stadium Jammu which is expected to be attended by a large number of people, Senior Superintendent of Police, Security Jammu, Ramesh Angral said.

Angral also sought people's cooperation in providing security during the function.

"Do not carry any objectionable items like cameras, ammunition, sharp edged weapons, hand polythene bags, ladies purse, tiffin boxes, transistor, patromax, handy fire extinguishers, stop watches, pens, any kind of powder, inflammable material like cigarettes, match boxes, lighter and other objectionable items", he added.

He also asked the people to extend full co-operation to the frisking teams deployed at different gates, maintain queues while entering the gates through Metal Detector Doors.

He also said that proper parking slots have been earmarked for all categories.

"We appeal to the people to immediately inform police personnel on duty in case they notice any suspicious item lying anywhere unattended," he said.
