Sea plane is just a distraction from real questions: Rahul Gandhi

Addressing a press conference in Ahmedabad today, Congress President Rahul Gandhi said there was nothing wrong if Prime Minister Narendra Modi wanted to fly in a sea plane but it was just a distraction from the question what they [BJP] had done for the people of Gujarat in the last 22 year.

Rahul said Modi and Chief Minister Vijay Rupani had initiated one-sided development here, the one only for 5-10 people. Not everyone had been given their rights, he said.

"People of Gujarat are very intelligent. They can see that PM Modi is not talking about corruption or farmers in his rallies. There is a massive undercurrent. I am actually a little surprised, I had expected BJP to fight with more strength," he said.


"Whenever I went to a temple I just prayed for a 'sunehra bhavishya' for the people of Gujarat, better development here," he said.

"Jahan mauka milta hai, vahan mandir jaata hoon, Kedarnath bhi gaya tha, Vo kya Gujarat mein hai?" Rahul said, responding to the charge that he was visiting temples for electoral benefit.

"Whatever decision we will make about Gujarat, it will only be done after talking to the people of Gujarat, after listening to their voices. No decision will be taken unilaterally," he said.

Rahul also cautioned that he won't tolerate bad language against Modi, citing the suspension of veteran Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar who had abused Modi.
