NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) on monday kept under suspension the membership of senior advocates R K Anand and I U Khan, who were shown by a TV channel allegedly influencing a witness in the sensational BMW case.
Show cause notices have also been issued to the two advocates as to why action be not taken against them, SCBA President P H Parekh said.
The decision to suspend the senior advocates and to seek their response on the incident was taken at a SCBA's executive meeting, he said.
A three-member Committee has been formed to go into the issue and it will submit its report within four weeks, he said.
The Committee includes Parekh, senior advocate V Shekhar and advocate Vikrant Yadav. Anand, who is defending the main accused Sanjeev Nanda, grandson of former Navy Chief S M Nanda and now dropped Special Public Prosecutor I U Khan, were allegedly shown in collusion to influence the witness Sunil Kulkarni in a sting operation.
Bar Council of Delhi had on Saturday also issued showcause notices to the two noted criminal lawyers asking them to respond by July 20.
