SC to hear Sahara Shahar matter next week

The UP Govt today moved the Supreme Court challenging the stay granted by the Allahabad High Court on the demolition of Shara group's commercial property Shara Sahar.

NEW DELHI: The Uttar Pradesh Government today moved the Supreme Court challenging the stay granted by the Allahabad High Court on the demolition of Shara group's commercial property Shara Sahar.

The case will come up hearing before the apex court next week.

A vacation bench of the Supreme Court headed by Justice Arijit Pasayat did not give relief to the state government saying it would hear the matter next week.

The state government's move was against the order of Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court, which yesterday pulled up the Lucknow Development Authority for demolition of Sahara Sahar during the night without any prior notice.

The High Court had also asked the Uttar Pradesh government to restore possession of land to the Sahara Group company.

Taking strong exception to the demolition drive being carried out by LDA on Wednesday night, the High Court had also directed the Uttar Pradesh government not to carry out such drives after 5 pm and before 9 am.
