The Supreme Court is set to give on Friday its ruling in the cross-appeals filed by Tata Sons and Cyrus Investments over a National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) order to reinstate Cyrus Mistry as the executive chairman of the salt-to-software Tata conglomerate.

A bench of Chief Justice SA Bobde and Justices AS Bopanna and V Ramasubramanian has posted the matter for pronouncement of judgement. The apex court had reserved its order on December 17, after hearing both parties.

In December 2019, the NCLAT had directed that Tata Sons reinstate Mistry, who had represented the Shapoorji Pallonji Group on its board, as executive chairman and restore his directorships in three more group companies.

Subsequently, both Tata Sons, as well as Mistry’s Cyrus Investments, approached the Supreme Court to challenge the appellate tribunal’s order.
