New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday stayed an order by the Andhra Pradesh High Court barring the media from reporting on the Amaravati land scam, which has snowballed into a major political controversy in the state.

A High Court stay on the investigations will continue, it said.

The High Court had stayed investigations into the case filed by the Jaganmohan Reddy government against officials of the former Chandrababu Naidu government, including the former advocate general.

The state government has since sought a CBI probe into the scam in which the officials allegedly bought land in anticipation of Amravati being made the new capital based on insider information, a charge the 13 accused deny.

A three-judge bench led by Justice Ashok Bhushan also issued formal notices to former Advocate General Dammalapati Srinivas on an appeal filed by the Andhra government against the order.
