COIMBATORE: A group of government law college students today took out a 'funeral procession,' of the Supreme Court stay on the 27 per cent reservation for OBCs in higher educational institutes, in the city.

About 50 students carried a 'pall,' symbolising taking of funeral of the Apex Court stay and marched from Gandhipuram bus stand to the District Collectorate.

They carried placards, written in Tamil and English and raised slogans like 'stop harassment of OBC rights,' and criticised the Apex Court's interim verdict.

Though the students demanded that all of them be allowed to meet the Collector, police agreed to send only four of them. As the students started protesting, they were 'removed' from the place, police said.

Meanwhile, about 60 PMK activists and 20 SFI members staged separate demonstrations in the city, in protest against the Superme Court's stay.
