SC refuses more time for Congress MLA Vinay Kulkarni to surrender

The Supreme Court has denied Karnataka Congress MLA Vinay Kulkarni's request for more time to surrender in connection with a BJP leader's murder case.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday refused to extend the time given to Karnataka Congress MLA Vinay Kulkarni to surrender in a case related to the murder of a BJP leader.

Last week, the top court had cancelled Kulkarni's bail over allegations of witness tampering and asked him to surrender within a week. On Friday, Kulkarni's counsel sought extension of time to surrender.

A bench of justices Prashant Kumar Mishra and Manmohan refused to entertain the plea. His counsel argued that Kulkarni is seeking extension because he is a sitting MLA and chairman of Karnataka Water Supply Board. And that he has to participate in the meeting scheduled for this week. However, the bench remained unconvinced and turned down the request.
