New Delhi: Some Opposition members of the Lok Sabha on Thursday raised their concern about the recent Supreme Court judgement on sub-classifying the Scheduled Castes with one MP asking the Centre to file a review petition against the judgement.

The government also used the occasion to clarify that the SC judgement didn't make any mention about the creamy layer among SCs but only one judge made an observation about it and urged the Opposition "not to mislead" the society about it. Bhausaheb Wakchaure (Shiv Sena-UBT) expressed concern about the Supreme Court "judgement on the creamy layer in SC/ST quotas" and raised his objection to that.

Intervening him, law minister Arjun Ram Meghwal said: "The reference to creamy layer in the sub-categorisation of SC/STs is an observation by SC judge and not a part of the decision. The member should not make an attempt to mislead society".

During the Zero Hour, Varun Choudhary (Congress) raised his objection to the judgement, saying it has overlooked the issue of untouchability against the Dalits and that the judgement went against the vision of BR Ambedkar.
