"A1 (Sidhu) is guilty of Section 323 of IPC. Awarded no sentence but fine of Rs 1,000 for the offence. A2 (Rupinder Singh Sandhu) is acquitted," the bench said.
The Supreme Court has acquitted Punjab tourism minister Navjot Singh Sidhu of all charges in a 1988 road rage case in which one person died, ruling out any immediate threat to the former cricketer’s political career.

Sidhu and his cousin, Rupinder Singh Sandhu, were accused of beating up an old man, Gurnam Singh, in a road rage incident in Patiala. The man died of a cardiac arrest. In an order delivered 30 years after the incident, a top court bench, comprising Justices Jasti Chelameswar and Sanjay Kishan Kaul, acquitted Sidhu of the charge on the ground that there was no evidence against him.A trial court had initially acquitted Sidhu and his cousin of the charges of murder and culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
